Creator Guidelines
Everything you need to know about uploading projects, earning 93% royalties, maintaining quality standards, and building your engineering reputation on GUINEX.
Getting Started as a Creator
Every registered GUINEX user is automatically eligible to be a creator. There's no separate application — simply:
- Register an account and set your unique GUINEX ID (e.g., @yourname).
- Complete your profile — add your college, bio, avatar, and social links. Buyers trust creators with complete profiles.
- Navigate to Upload — click "Upload Project" in the navigation or visit guinex.in/upload.html.
- Build your listing — fill in the project details and use the Interactive Notebook Editor to create rich documentation.
- Submit for review — your project enters "Pending" status. Admin reviews and approves it within 24-48 hours.
Upload Requirements
Required Fields
- • Project title (clear, descriptive, searchable)
- • Category selection (Computer Science, Electronics, IoT, etc.)
- • GP price (your chosen amount; 1 GP = ₹1)
- • Abstract / description (what the project does, what's included)
- • At least one Notebook Editor cell (text, code, or image)
Recommended Extras
- • Gallery images (screenshots, circuit diagrams, UI previews)
- • Poster image for project card thumbnail
- • Dependency list / requirements.txt
- • Setup/installation instructions
- • Technology stack tags
Interactive Notebook Editor
The Notebook Editor is how you structure your project documentation. It supports three types of cells:
Text Cells
Rich text powered by Quill editor. Use for explanations, project overview, architecture descriptions, and setup guides.
Code Blocks
Syntax-highlighted code with language selection and copy button. Show your source code, configurations, and terminal commands.
Image Cells
Drag-and-drop image uploads to Cloudinary. Add screenshots, circuit diagrams, UI mockups, and architecture charts.
💡 Tip: The best-performing projects on GUINEX have 5+ cells mixing text explanations with code blocks and screenshots. Structure your notebook like a mini-tutorial.
Documentation Standards
High-quality documentation is the difference between a 5-star project and a dispute. Include:
- Project Overview: What the project does, who it's for, and what technologies it uses.
- Setup Instructions: Step-by-step guide to install dependencies, configure the environment, and run the project.
- Requirements: Python version, Node.js version, Arduino board type, required libraries, hardware components.
- File Structure: Explain the project folder structure so buyers know where to find things.
- Usage Guide: How to actually use the project after setup — inputs, outputs, expected behavior.
- Known Limitations: Be transparent about what works and what doesn't. This prevents disputes.
Pricing Strategy
Setting the right price affects your unlock rate and overall earnings. Consider:
| Project Type | Suggested Range | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Simple scripts / templates | 50–150 GP | Low complexity, quick reference value |
| Semester projects / mini-projects | 150–500 GP | Moderate documentation, working code |
| Final-year projects / complex systems | 500–2000 GP | Extensive code, full documentation, hardware designs |
| Research projects / ML models | 1000–5000 GP | Significant R&D value, datasets, trained models |
Remember: 1 GP = ₹1 INR. You earn 93% of the listed price on every unlock.
Prohibited Content
The following content will result in immediate rejection and potential account action:
- Plagiarized or copied projects you don't have rights to distribute
- Malware, viruses, backdoors, trojans, or any malicious code
- Fake / non-functional code intentionally sold as working
- Projects with misleading titles or descriptions
- Adult, obscene, or sexually explicit content
- Content promoting violence, hate speech, or discrimination
- Copyrighted material used without proper authorization
- Promotional spam or content unrelated to engineering/academic work
- Content containing personal data of third parties without consent
- Projects that facilitate illegal activities
Buyer Support Expectations
When a buyer unlocks your project, they gain access to the built-in Real-Time Support Chat. As a creator, you should:
- Respond within the 72-hour window — this is the buyer protection period. Unresponsive creators during active issues may face unfavorable dispute outcomes.
- Help with setup issues — missing dependency instructions, environment configuration, and compilation guidance.
- Be transparent about limitations — if the project has known issues or environment requirements, communicate them honestly.
- Stay professional — maintain respectful, constructive communication at all times.
💡 Good support = better reviews = more unlocks = more earnings. Think of each buyer interaction as an investment in your creator reputation.
